Compilation of data from the Ninth United Nations Survey on Crime Trends (2003-2004), with sex ratios of parliament members, police, prosecutors, judges, prison staff, and prisoners.
This dataset provides structured data for selected variables from the Ninth United Nations Survey on Crime Trends (2003-2004) (CTS9). The United Nations surveys on crime trends provides data over time on criminal justice systems across the world. The source data and documentation are available online, but not in one standard place. CTS9 is an extract focusing of the size and sex composition of groups within the criminal justice system: police, prosecutors, judges, prison staff, and prisoners. These data can be linked to other historical data on criminal justice systems and country/jurisdiction socio-economic data via a crosswalk. Statistics for the sex ratio of parliament members have been added based on data from the United Nations Human Development Report. Data for the United States has been corrected and expanded using additional sources.
